Suzanne Ruthven is the editor of The New Writer. She is also commissioning editor for a publisher specialising in mind, body & spirit titles. Author of a dozen books in the genre as well as two novels, she has contributed articles to a wide variety of publications. She is a full member of the Academi (The Welsh Academy) in recognition of her contribution to literature in Wales.

Catherine Smith is the poetry editor of The New Writer. Her collection, The New Bride, was shortlisted for The Forward First Collection Prize in 2001 and received critical acclaim. Her next collection, The Butcher's Hands, was published in 2003 and the following year she was chosen by a panel of judges chaired by Poet Laureate Andrew Motion as one of the Next Generation Poets.

Merric Davidson is the publisher of The New Writer. He has worked both as a book publisher and literary agent and has been the administrator of the British Book Awards since 1992.
