Prose and Poetry Prizes Rules of Entry and Entry Form Entries in the single poem section must be previously unpublished with a limit of 40 lines. Entry fee £5 for up to two single poems (TNW subscribers up to four poems at same fee). Entries in the collection of poems section (6-10 poems) can be previously published. No line limit. Entry fee £12 per collection. Short stories up to 4,000 words and serials/novellas up to 20,000 words on any subject or theme, in any genre (not children's). Previously published material is not eligible for entry. Entry fees £5 per short story (TNW subscribers two stories at same fee) or £15 per serial/novella. Essays, articles and interviews up to 2,000 words covering any writing-related or literary theme in its widest sense. Previously published material is not eligible. Single entry £5 (TNW subscribers two entries at same fee). All work should be clearly typed, double-spaced (except poetry), on one side of white A4 paper and paperclipped. Entrants may make as many submissions as they wish but please include your name, address, title of entry, word count and category on a separate cover sheet with every entry. Preliminary judging will be carried out by The New Writer editorial board with guest judges making the final selection so there should be no identifying marks on the entries. Entries are non-returnable. A full list of winners will be sent provided SAE is enclosed. To enter the annual Prose & Poetry Prizes, please complete the form below and press the SUBMIT NOW button at the end. Once you have submitted the form it is best to send your work in the post, particularly longer short stories and novellas and poetry collections. In that way the formatting of your work will be exactly how you want it to be read by the judges. We are happy to receive shorter work in an attachment to an email to admin@thenewwriter.com - particularly single poems and short shorts. Your card will not be debited until your entry has been received and connected to this online entry form. Once your work is received in our office we will proceed with the credit card transaction and advise accordingly.* If you prefer to pay by cheque or postal order or international money order made payable to The New Writer, or send your credit card details (card number, expiry date, security code) in the post to our office (address below), please make sure that you either download and complete the following entry form or supply all the information we are asking for here with your entry. All entries posted by or on 30 November will be eligible for that year's competition. If you are unable to pay in pounds sterling OR by the credit cards itemised below, and you would like to pay by cheque or notes in your own currency, please add the equivalent of an extra 12 pounds sterling to the entry fee which should enable us to cover banking conversions and transactions at this end.
